Fire, Dust to Dust: The Illusion of Ownership

Nature, in its quiet strength, reminds us of life’s greatest truths. The recent fire in California is a somber example—a moment where cherished possessions, built and loved over lifetimes, vanished in an instant. One small turn of nature, and everything is reduced to ashes.

What do we truly own? Our "me," "mine," and "I" often dominate our lives. We build attachments, claim ownership, and dream of permanence. Yet, the universe gently reveals its wisdom: nothing is ever ours to keep. What is mine today becomes someone else’s tomorrow.

Life's essence lies not in clinging to things but in embracing impermanence. It is a humbling reminder that our only lasting legacy is the love and kindness we offer. Everything else—our possessions, our status, even our bodies—returns to the elements: dust to dust, fire to fire, wind to wind, and water to water, embrace the essence of life’s impermanence.

Possessions fade, but love and kindness remain eternal. The recent California fire teaches us a timeless lesson—let go of attachment, live lightly, and focus on what truly matters.

Reflect deeply. When the ashes settle, what remains? Only the love we shared and the kindness we sowed endure beyond us. Let go of the illusion of ownership. Live lightly, love deeply, and leave a trail of compassion behind.

Stay blessed
