A Tale of Two Disciples, Measure of Moksha

Two disciples approached their revered Guru, seeking wisdom. One inquired, “Guruji, when shall I attain Moksha, the ultimate liberation?”

The Guru smiled serenely, “You, my child, will find Moksha in five years.”

A sense of impatience flickered in the disciple’s eyes. “Five years is a long time, Guruji. Can it not be sooner?”

The Guru turned to the second disciple. “And you, dear one, will reach Moksha in fifteen years.”

A radiant joy illuminated the second disciple’s face. He began to dance with unrestrained delight.

Puzzled, the first disciple questioned, “Why do you rejoice when your path to Moksha is longer?”

The joyous disciple replied, “I am filled with gratitude, Guruji. Fifteen years may seem distant, but the certainty of Moksha is a priceless gift. I am already celebrating this divine promise.”

The Guru observed, “Often, we are like the first disciple. Even when blessed with knowledge and the path to liberation, we yearn for instant gratification. We forget to appreciate the present moment and the journey itself. The second disciple understood the true nature of blessings — a gift to be cherished, regardless of the timeline.”

Stay blessed
